After two years of construction and development, KICC held its grand reopening ceremony on August 6, 2018. The $207 million renovations project resulted in a revitalization of the space and a new, fresh experience for attendees. The renovation project also expanded the exhibit space by more than one-third— from 146,000 to 200,000 square feet— and the ballroom increased by 10,000 square feet, up to 40,000 square feet with LED walls, and a 175-seat conference theater.
The center’s technology upgrade is arguably the show-stealer of the renovation project. With advanced Wi-Fi capabilities, high-definition audiovisual systems, and over 330 high-density access points incorporated into the redesign, KICC’s cutting-edge technological functionality makes hosting an event a seamless experience.

Prestige AV & Creative Services selected Hatfield Media to photograph their work during KICC’s grand opening event. Our team documented Prestige’s process of stage lighting, sound, and projections, with a two-fold goal: one, to photograph the event as it happened, and two, to show the behind-the-scenes effort that made this event a success.
“It’s not enough to capture a moment in time. You need to create context,” said Isaac Harrison, Photographer and Video Producer at Hatfield Media. “When someone looks at a photo, I want them to feel how that event space felt in that moment. Just from looking at the image, I want them to experience the energy in the room.”
From the lighting structures to the camera operators, we captured each step of the process of what these media professionals do. For the Hatfield Media team, every aspect of the event holds importance, from the main event to the candid interactions to the behind-the-scenes moments.
